Woodimension designs and makes 3D wooden puzzles, from the first sketch to a finished piece you can assemble, hold and give as a gift.
A three-dimensional wooden puzzle differs from a flat one in that it is assembled into a volume. Each piece has to hold onto its neighbours, and the finished form has to look stable and neat. That's why the work starts not with the material, but with understanding the shape and level of complexity you want to achieve.
We focus on a few directions: children's puzzles made from natural wood that help develop fine motor skills, and more intricate models for adults where precision of the joints matters. We can also discuss custom commissions, such as a puzzle based on your own sketch or one featuring a figure tied to a special memory.
In projects like these, preparing the files is usually critical. The drawing or digital model is checked for element thickness, the clearances between parts and the direction of the wood grain. These parameters affect how easy the puzzle is to assemble and how long it will last.
It's important to understand that every piece is cut and finished by hand after laser cutting, and the result depends on the chosen wood species and finish. For that reason we are open about what is and isn't possible, and we don't promise identical results for every idea.
